mothers gone a got a new 500

Featured Replies

well shes pushing 60 used to be a rally driver in an old lotus, sold her mangoletsi (dont quote me on that spelling) tuned alfa mito for the new fiat 500 arbarth ss edition, its red with white decals on it white 16" alloy wheel, black and red leather interior. What can i say, well i love it quad exausts out the back more arbarth badges/stickers that you could shake a stick at, drilled brake disks it looks the part to say the least. The interior (especially the steering wheel) is abosultly lovley, driving position is very good and some how (back to that steering wheel again) but it feels like it molds to your hands. It has koni suspension which i do wonder at 60 will she regret that living on bodmin moor with cattle grids every half a mile, but hey if i can be doing the same thing at that age i will. its a 1.4 turbo charged engine pushing about 160ish bhp with sports mode to give you more tourqe when needed and only weighing in 930 kilo! im going to take it out soon to see what its made of, around the corners i reckon its going to be brilliant, but how will it stack up agaisnt the might of my tuned 1.9tdi fabia vrs!?

the SS arbarth is one of the oft overlooked hot hatches, its got fantastic gokart like handling, and is bloody fast :)

enjoy!

edit: my 160 bhp grande punto could keep up with modded fabia vRS without problems ;)

Oh no my mothers car faster than mine, although I hate to admit it around a track she'd kick my ass! If I didn't have a kid I would defiantly look at one!

Come on gadgetman....

Rules and guidelines and all that!

Sorry chaps to go OT!

Back on topic, would you pay £35,000 for the Ferrari version though?

No I doubt I would, but fiat gave her 2 grand off for making the plate an 11 instead of the new 61 plate! I ment racing on a track as stated as did sharkrider!

the fiat abarth SS is one hell of a car... loved every mintue of the 4 days the Lipscombe dealership lent me one(as a courtesy car for my Alfa Mito cloverleaf)

Your Mum is an ex-rally driver???

Yeah she was (before I was about) only a bit of amature stuff in a old lotus, loves her cars and her driving!

Photos?! (of the car I mean, nobody likes Mum jokes.)

More power to your mums elbow. I hope I still have the bug when I am her age (still got a few years to go..................honest :D )

Yes, would have been from Mangoletsi, you've got the spelling right. They're a well-established dealer not far from here. Not sure how supplies their mapping, but they've certainly got in on the act of supplying 'approved' modifications for the Alfa and Fiat ranges.

Sounds a nice bit of kit that she's swapped to though! Got any pics? They certainly look the part B)

Well that is one cool mum!!!!! And to be really cool please get her to pronounce Abarth correctly. The TH at the end is NOT an English "th" sound. It is is pronounced AbarT.
