Equivalent VW for radiator fans

Featured Replies

What equivalent VWs can I get radiator fans for my Å koda Octavia 1.9 TDI Estate? I learned that mine don't work when pulling a trailer up a hill last week. Of course, if I'm at the used car part dealers I can tell right off hand, but in Slovakia a lot of people sell out parts from their junk cars online, so I can't see first-hand.

Also, where is the relay and thermostat for the fans located? I have the Haynes manual, but the picture in there doesn't really help me much (and maybe is from a different engined car).

i would keep my hands off used fans, as many of them tend to be broken...

if both fans have failed i would start with the fuse-box and work my way down to the fan switch, as it's not quite common for both to fail at the same time.

a multimeter should do the trick and could save you some money spent on parts you don't need

Check the green fuses on top of the battery. It's not uncommon to have a hairline crack in the fuse so look carefully.

The fan controller is at the left front of the engine bay - just follow the wires from the fans back until you reach it.
