vRS Blue Lights

Featured Replies

Hi, I've just got my new Fabia vRS today and have been trying to work out how/if the blue lights in the headlight cluster (Monte Carlo type) actually work? Whatever I put the lights on they never seem to come on, I thought it could be controlled by the hidden switch by the fuse box but that just makes the DRLs brighter (another question is that legal to drive around with them on?) Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Nope, on the vRS these lights serve no purpose. On other models these are the sidelight bulbs, but because the vRS has DRL lights located in the bumper that double up as the sidelights (DRL's are run at reduced power) the headlight small bulbs are disabled and disconnected.

As mannyo said, the bulbs your referring to act as side lights on all other models of the fabia. It's just cheaper to produce a single lamp cluster for all specs of fabia.

As far as the DRL switch next to the fuses go. All this does is switch the Day running lights on while driving will your lights off. This is completely legal and they will dim when you switch to side lights and dipped headlights.

The DRL's are more legal than illegal. They are a legal requirement on all new models of vehicles made after 2010 I think? Could be wrong about the date.

It's quite funny though because my uncles a speed cop and reckoned he'd pull me over for driving with my fogs on until i informed him about the DRL's.

Mental that police aren't clued up on such things :o

Aye co- worker is a special and now the cops are twigging what DRLS are many have been pulled over, however as more and more vehicles are fitted with them it'll get better,

Im guessing by "Speed Cop" you mean Traffic or Roads Policing Officer.

Got a great big drity look from a police car when I was passing them at a junction.

Thanks everyone :) I think it's a shame they didn't just connect them up as well - think it'll look good & just wanted to check on the DRLs so if I do get pulled over I can tell them they are legal, know they look like fogs which you aren't supposed to have on - hopefully the police will learn to tell the difference between them... I don't like being pulled over lol

All the other fabia's with DRLS they go off when u turn the lights on I would have preferred them to dim rather than off completely like the audi

I'd love to, although I suffer from chronic insomnia :p

Still it means I have more time than most to chill :)

I didn't realise the other fabia's switch off their DRL's when the side lights go on, I'm guessing their in the same position as the fogs tho so kinda makes sense as they would look more like fogs than the VRS ones not being LED's and all ;)

Mine are now LEDs ;)

My Monte has them in blue too. I turned the lights from off (with 21w DRLs, non LED) to side and they popped on, then put them to full and they stayed on. They don't look like much apart from a Christmas tree light on my Monte though as there is no silver reflector on the lens.

I am going to change mine to led, canbus error free onesemoticon-0148-yes.gif
