modified suspension question.

Featured Replies

Just a quick one, i think it's a yes but want to double check...

a set of those JOM coilovers for £200 say they are for the mk1 fabia... but am i right in thinking that they will also fit the mk2 fabia's???

same would apply for lowering springs i guess??? mk1 lower springs will fit mk2 fabia yes?

Depends on the axle load values, as much as anything.

As there were different spring and coilover setups depending on which version of the Mk1 you had, mainly due to the PD130 engine being heavier than the petrol versions, you can't really make a general rule that all Mk1 suspension kits will work on the Mk2.

If you have access to both a Mk1 and Mk2, the axle load values should be displayed on a plate, usually on either the passenger or driver door shut. It's on the passenger side for the Octy2, for example.

Well i'm trying to find a way of lowering a Fabia mk2 vRS estate, i was thinking a mk1 diesel estate will probably be the closer in weight..

so i will check the axle loads value of a mk1 fabia 1.9 pd estate, and then i will have to ask someone on here to check the axle loads values of a mk2 fabia vrs estate.. not many vrs estate owners here though!? :-(

Are you looking specifically at a coilover solution, or just a fixed drop from a sport spring setup?

In either case, I'd get in touch with one of the sponsors on here who should have some info for you on what's available, across the different suspension manufacturers. I'd try DPM and Awesome as a start.

vRS hatch axle weights are mentioned in this thread IIRC hatch and estate are basically the same weight so I assume the axle weights will be very similar?!

not really sure... my uncle has one but is emigrating abroad and has given (for free) his 27yr son(my cousin) his vrs estate(he has already put 32,000miles on it)

my cousin currently has a E92 bmw m3 so this car is for the wife but he says it's too rolly pollie in the corners and looks high up... he knows i like my skoda's and asked what's the best way of making it handle better and llok lower for sub £400(inc fitting.. have a place that will fit for £120)

so thats all i know... he wants to make a purchase this weekend

It could be that the Mk2 vRS estate has a different rear loading, that's quite common for estate variants given the different shape of the rear, and also that there's the potential to carry more over the rear axle. It's certainly needs checking and confirming.

£380 isn't really an awful lot, if you want a setup that will give him what he's after. But certainly some Eibach ProKit springs, matched up to the standard dampers already there should give an improvement, along with a drop in ride height.

yeah i was thinking it would have to be lowering springs, well eibach it is...

so i best go pay full price and buy the mk2 vrs estate then... i was hoping someone would say the JOM coilovers would be fine... probs best not to use the cheap option on someone else's car....

BTW not too happy with my uncle... i would have loved a black vrs estate, and i offered him £5000 as a token payment.. but instead his spoilt 27yr v8 m3 driving b**t**d gets it.... (he is lending it too me for 2 weeks when he goes on holiday in november :-)

oh well.

If it's not for you, and he's used to driving a current M3 then I wouldn't have thought cash would have been the top priority that governed which ones to go for! But there we go...

Just give him the numbers for DPM and Awesome, plus a couple of others and leave him to it

Sonner if you are looking to lower a fabia vRS estate skoda accessories do lowering spring`s for the vRS estate they lower the standard fabia vRS estate by 20mm at the front and 15mm at the rear and the part number is 2GB5J0071677A and the RRP is £180.00 with the VAT hope it hlep you out

If the stock car is too "roly poly", maybe a rear ARB, or does it have one already?
