Panoramic sunroof - trim squeeks

Featured Replies

Our Yeti is an early production one - September 2009. It now has 38k miles on the clock.

It has recently had a main dealer service where I asked them to investigate the various trim squeeks it has. I was told because it has a sunroof the shell flexes which is what causes the squeeks. In other words, they all do it.

I know I am comparing apples to pears but my other car is a Lexus LS400 and after 14 years and 185k miles the interior is still silent, not a single squeek or rattle. Am I expecting too much from the Yeti? Does anyone else with a sunroof have trim squeeks?

Only had mine a few days but there are zero squeaks and rattles. Absolutely nothing.

Most all early production cars of any make will have rattles and squeeks. It takes a while for the guys building it to sort it out and for the dealers to report back what the first customers are complaining about... There are thousands of bits in a car and not everything can be sorted in pre-production testing on a computer or with the first mules.

I have the Velux roof and do not have a single rattle or squeek in over 10,000 miles.

My sunroof has developed a little creaking noise over the front passenger corner.

Done 25k miles now so this thing is inevitable with such a large sunroof also happens on metal/glass top electric convertible cars. If I open and close the sunroof it goes away.

I have a lubrication pack left over from my VW Eos days so will apply that to the sunroof and let you know how I get on.

Cheers

One of the first Yetis I ever sold (Aerofurbs white 170CR) has a sunroof and he had some annoying noises after about 20k, when it came in for the service one of our Skoda techs managed to sort it out by adjusting and lubricating something in the mechanism. Been fine ever since as far as I know.
