Does anyone know why VAG use Garret turbos in the TDI and KKK in the 1.8T.

just curious as my mate works for Garret and he has no idea.

Don't the TDI ones use/put out a much higher pressure? Only difference I can think of, off the top of my head. :confused:

Probably nothing more than to do with what was available to them from their existing supplier when they started development of the later engine. Plus they have the advantage now of having a relationship with both suppliers should they decide to ditch one of them in favour of the other. In turn this gives them the ability to get lower prices from both Garret and KKK.....

Hmmm true. Shame the 1.8T isn't garret

Some tdis use KKKs as well. I think the furby and Seat Ibiza do.
