vRS tuning...

Featured Replies

whats the best place to go for remapping of my vRS

is it possible to get a chip that is removable for servicing purposes?

Andy

Use the search facilty, you will find LOTS of info.

Most popular undoable is the AMD 1 click.

ok reading everything i have found has left me very confused lol

basically the fabia i am getting is a co vehicle, if they find out i've modified it, i'll prob get the sack!!!

is there any re-maps which are 100% undetectable?

are there any other options worth considering? been reading the cupra 160 air intake thread?!?

I am in EXACTLY the same position. I'd love a JABBA, but daren't risk it. I'd like to have a go in an AMD'd one though to see if its worth it...

And presumably the modified car won't then be insured either?

Go for a digital tuning box or one click/REVO, all of these are removable at servicing and the latter 2 are uploaded via the ODBII port.

If you want a full custom remap, personally i'd opt for Jabba, you will undoubtadly get the most performance from the Jabba map and it too is uploaded via the ODBII port, however it isnt removable unless you drive to Jabba near Peterborough to have it removed, but then you'll have to get it remapped again. Personally I have never had any problems with the Jabba remap, and the dealer hasnt noticed it - it doesnt show up on VAG-COM.

A very good question...
A very good question...

Indeed, hadn't actually given this much thought!

I am insured through the County Councils Block policy, that insures ANYBODY to drive a Council supplied vehicle (mine is a lease car). Dealer fitted accessories are permitted, as long as professionally fitted and are returned to standard before giving it back. I will ask if I can remap, but I'm sure a Jabba would be out of the question. I think i would be insured anyway, but must check first!

Will a superchip show up on a vag- com?.. Mines in Wed for a service

Superchip is completely crap, no offence but a tuning box would give more power, any petrol user with N/A engines will tell you that they actually loose BHP when superchipped. Unless you mean superchipping as in just changing the program on the ECU, in which case Jabba, REVO, STAR, AmD all offer :D

Yep... By superchipping, I've had the program changed in the ECU seems ok to me

i'm guessing a could fit the cupra air intake, and swop it back for servicing, and there would be no way of telling??

A quote from a previous thread.

" No remap is undetectable, if the dealer mechanic really checks out the settings "

Also bear in mind if the mechanic takes it out after service to check it is O.K. by gum it will be noticable, compared to a std Furby. Just look at the response from those that have had a remap.

With regards the Cupra intake- there is a thread some where , that shows the figures fro a std with this, and it is found to make your MPG worse, and have no disernable improvement anywhere.

A Green panel filter in place of the sunday times in the airbox, does appear to help a std car breathe.

Hope these dont confuse the issue further.

Steve

I use a mr hoot digital tuning box plus cupra intake and green cotton filter.

Works just fine. to be honest I wouldn't want any more power through the VRS chassis, its just not up to it.

Wheel spin in 3rd with decent tyres on a dry road?? Thats plenty

There is now an approved Ottenger remap for VAG PD engines. It won't affect warranty and even comes with it's own 3 year warranty. Check with Skoda UK.

Seat and VW have fully approved it.

You have a link to the site claiming this ?

Can you post ?

Just trawling through old threads and wondered if anything is known of this??

I believe that has been true for some time in Holland and perhaps elsewhere in Europe - but not in the UK.

Thats a myth, not true, MPG is uneffected.

However it's not worth just fitting it alone

i had a dragon tunning box and was very happy with it. plus when you come to sell you can get your money back!

I've been thinking of one of these myself - not too puch power to wear the clutch out early and like you say you can sell it on later.

What did you think of it, can you notice an increase in power, does your car smoke any more than standard, is it easy to install etc?

Thanks
