Offside headlamp aim too low

Featured Replies

Hi, I have a 52 reg 1.9TDI 130bhp classic. It has failed it's MOT on 2 things. The 1st is that the offside headlamp beam is too low. Just wondering if there's any way it can be sorted without having to go to a garage. It has normal car bulbs. The 2nd failure is that the rear brake application is uneven. The rear pads are wearing thin too. Would a change of pads solve this or would the brakes need adjusting some how? I have scrolled through several pages on the forum & haven't found any thing so appologies if I've missed it.Many thanks in advance for any help received.

For the first problem, it depends that is the casing of the lamp itself misaligned or the automatic height adjuster is stuck (if you have that). Do a visual check that is right lamp a little bit more aligned to down as a left lamp.

For the second problem, it depends how sore out your rear discs are. If they have a quite big edge, then, they need to be changed too. If brake pads are worn out, then when you change them, also clean out the caliper cylinder. It could be stuck and causes uneven braking. Also you could change the brake fluid, if it hasn't been done by service.

Thanks for your reply. The adjustment switch in the car is working fine. Have found the screw on the back of the headlight which appears to have fallen to bits!! It'll happily make it lower but not higher!! :S :S Hubby is going to have a look tomorrow in daylight. Thanks again
