Gone are the good old days when ones trusty roofrack fitted the gutters of any car one owned (am I giving my age away!)

I can't bring myself to pay over £100 for a roofrack. Does anyone know, was there any change to the roof or fixing points in the 2009 Octavia facelift, or could I buy 'Automaxi Supra Roofbars for Octavia 1997-2004', for £55.00 from an Ebay supplier ? Does anyone know of any other cheap option please ?

Ive been looking at this one for mine.

But as mine is a company car i need to check with the powers that be before I splash out on it.

I'm looking for a rack too but I feel these are too good to be true, has anyone ever heard or known of anyone with one of these racks ?? Any feedback appreciated. I say any feedback but I suppose that also includes the 'wouldn't go near it mate' comments too.

I contacted the Ebay seller of the cheap bars and asked if they were custom made for the Octavia with the correct screw fixings, and he said 'no' ! Clearly why they are so cheap !
