Is it possible to adjust speedometer speed error with programming equipment?

Featured Replies

When I'm doing 80 kmh on the speedo I'm actually only doing around 71-72 (according to several GPS measurements and those things by the road saying "your speed is..."). Is it possible to use one of those advanced programming things to adjust this? My neighbour has the best one (it's supposed to do coding of keys). The error is pretty consistent - doing 120 km on the speedo is around 110, so that's only a couple of kmh from around 40 and up to there. So if it's possible to adjust it statically (the same amount for all speeds), that would be OK by me.

No, you'd need a company who can calibrate VW dashpods.

Weird stuff. I have had one other car with this problem, a Chevy Suburban (which I still have after more than ten years), but that's only 5 km wrong. All my other cars have been spot on. And my 1983 Yamaha RD 350 is spot on too. Even my son's RD125DX is perfect. Idiotic system!

As for speeding it only means that it looks even worse for my wife when I'm driving... ;)
