Hi,

My 2005 VRS tailgate release has begun to play up. It takes a few attempts to get the release to pop the tailgate. It can be heard working but seems to lack the power to pop it. It occurs on both the remote and the botton on the tailgate.

It shows the first attempt and then the second release.

Has anyone experienced this and know how to resolve it?

I had EXACT same problem.

Its the catch mate, you need to re- position the black catch so that the orange tab completely moves across and releases the catch.

You will see what I mean if you do the following.

Put backseat down

take panel off boot catch

open boot via key fob

if it catches you will notice the orange tab not moving across due to the black catch protruding.

Ok now move tab across with finger and open boot.

Now take a hammer the black catch and reshape it into place...

Voila :p

When you say hammer the catch, which part are you referring to?

Hammer SLIGHTLY the black catch which pivots back and forth.

If you were looking down. It's to the left of the middle metal catch....

It either needs hammering back or forwards to ensure it is inline with the orange tab when the boot is closed.
