Maybe getting an Octavia Laurin & Klement Tomorrow!

Featured Replies

Hi all! So I'm going to see this car tomorrow ( http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2985687.htm ), and as a pre-emptive strike I thought I'd join up, mostly for the Sky Insurance discount. I'm already with Sky and have club discount from PreludeUK, thought I'd better make sure I don't lose that if I actually buy the car. Not sure if it works that way but no harm in signing up!

If you have any hints for what to look at particular or if anyone knows this car please let me know. I know I've left it a bit late! I'm heading over to the tech. section to get a clue. If there's a buyers guide on here§ I'd appreciate a link!

I have a 53 Octy1 L&K but the 130 hp diesel.

Build quality is fantastic, even better than the new ones.

Good listen to the turbo.

Check for dealer servicing history.

1.8T is not too economical. Expect about 35 mpg. Think they were 150 hp. MK1 VRS is probably a bit of a better driver's car as our rolls a bit when pushed.

Our has Xenons which are nice. These cars were around £16K when new. A lot of car for the money.

Well I'm looking for a comfy ride so body roll is no problem. The low miles and dealer history on this one will hopefully mean it's decent. Not had a turbo before but I think as long as it sounds okay and nothing blue comes out the exhaust when you rev or lift off, it should be okay. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong!

Hi and welcome aboard.

The 1.8t are nice engines and that looks to be a nice low milage example. I used to have the 1.8t 180bhp in the vRS, loved the car/engine, if it wasn't for my commute getting so high I would never have got rid.

When you have a test drive listen out for a knocking going over speed bumps/bumpy roads, could be Anti Roll Bar bushes or radiator mounts need replacing, other common faults are coil packs failing, all relativly cheap to repair.

Welcome to Briskoda

I was initially tempted by the vRS but I only ever buy super-low milers and this fitted the bill and is powerful enough. Also, every Prelude I looked at was rusty :'(

If you after a comfy ride with plenty of toys the L&K is a perfect car. The 150bhp 1.8t is plenty quick enough but if your after more grunt in the future they remap very well

Yeah my local garage does remapping and I'm already thinking of it! Sadly I'm having to consider an economy map with only minor power increase :'(

More power is always good but it'll likely increase boost pressure and reduce turbo life to some extent, so I won't go for a full-power remap. I'll be asking for advice about that should I come home with the L&K tomorrow ;)

I'd say it's likely but until you see the car in the flesh you never know.

Bought it! I'm incredibly impressed with the overall feeling of quality as well as the power and torque.

It needs floor mats and a bluetooth / mp3 solution and eventualy a wheel refurb as some of the smoky-chrome finish is coming of the wheels. I'll get a full profile up when I've had a chance to clean it, it got filthy coming down the M4 in torrential rain last night!

Good to hear that you liked it
