Couple of questions/pointers

  • Any reason you didn't go for Intel? They've been quite far ahead for a while now and even the i5 are quite good
  • 8gb of RAM seems quite excessive compared to other parts of the system. You'd get away with 4gb on that config but 6gb would be optimal.
  • Antec is a good case choice.
  • 6770 should do you quite well unless you want real hardcore games, media editing etc

You'll find it's good fun making your own system and you'll save a bit money as well emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Trickest part for me was always putting the thermal paste on the top of the CPU emoticon-0106-crying.gif I always use to get some on my hands and not only can some be quite toxic it takes hours to wash off emoticon-0112-wondering.gif

I just dint know enough about the tech to be looking into intel, I know amd and the phenoms seem to be getting good reviews, Not that intel arnt, it's just as I'm an amature I thought I'd stick with what I know. I went for 8 gig because there was a deal on with that bundle, plus I won't need to put any more ram in for the foreseeable future. Operating system I have on my harddrive on my pc, will this work, could I just transfer my hardrive onto the new system or is that not going to work?

What operating system is it?

You'll need to re-authorise your OS once everything's installed (product key, internet conn etc). Windows will notice your hardware has completely changed and won't like it but it'll be fine when you give it product info etc.

There is no difference in tech or knowledge required going Intel or AMD, you build the system exactly the same.

I know what you mean but I know phenom is amds good stuff, I don't know what is top end intel, plus i know what motherboards I needed, am3 slot, with intel I don't, so I think if you know it you would think it to be easy but if you don't then it's not. Windows 7 is the os. So overall an alright system then?

Should be able to build a nice little system with what you have. What you looking at building the pc for? I got my computer just to run starcraft 2 (Game) AMD set up (AMD Fan Boy!) Cant fault it love it to bits

I'm building it to be a quick computer that's good for general use and to play a few games now and again, but if I wanted to play more than have a system that could support a bigger graphics card.
