I can't BELIEVE it!

So, we're in the final countdown. New Octy has been built and is on its way to the UK. Could be mine in as little as 2 weeks.......

Get up this morning and some @****!!! has keyed my Superb!! One nice hefty scratch on the bonnet, and one on the rear door. Great. No time to find a bodyshop that will do a decent job in the time, so I've had to 'fess up to the dealer, who wants to see the car and adjust the p/ex price accordingly.

Well unhappy, who wants to cheer me up?

Could be worse , the Octy might have been parked there instead

Well, yes. Here's the thing though - Octy will be parked there in a couple of weeks (happened outside the house), and at least if it happened to the Octy I would have time to ask around, get some recommendations and hopefully find someone who would do a proper job for not much

As things stand I'm totally at the mercy of the dealer.

No, you're not. Tell them to put the new car on hold until you have sorted the Superb.

That's certainly an idea. Thing is, I've been waiting for this Octavia since the middle of December, so I don't really want to hold it up if I can avoid it. BUT, if the dealer quotes me an outrageous price (which he shouldn't, because he's already told me he can get it done at trade price), then I will use that to bargain with. After all - he has to pay for the Octy within however many days, so it's in his interest to get it off the forecourt.

So, here's the question for those in the know. We're looking at a bonnet respray, and rear door respray. It's metallic paint, so they'll have to do the whole of each panel. Anyone care to guess how much? I'm taking it for him to see in the morning, so I'll hopefully be able to reveal the answer tomorrow.....

I had a bonnet respary done, the protective varnish on the metalic had blistered, at the same time as an accident repair job. Cost me

****in ******s. They should find something better to do :finger:

Chipsaway should be able to repair it for you, depending on how bad it is. I cant remember who it was on here that had their octy keyed and chipsaway made it like new and you couldn't tell where the scratch was. Have a look here http://www.chipsaway.co.uk/repair/chipsaway.asp

I have used Chipsaway, they were Brilliant, they even sorted a veyr minor dent that was attached to the scratch ( which went right thru to the undercoat).

If they are long scratches, be prepared for them to be there for quite a while.

Chips Away wanted something like

Thankfully a very kind lady down the road has offered me a space on her driveway so the Octy lives on there. So far so good

That's a result! :)

I would have just turned up on change over day with the car nice and dirty and said nothing. If the dealer noticed it to bad, he might not have. You can bet he will not be to quick to point them out to customers if he is keeping the car to sell (as opposed to passing it on if it is older).
