Electric window won't fully shut

Featured Replies

The N/S/F window on my 2002 Superb makes some unpleasant noises when closing and will stop and lower back to 1/3 closed. I can close it to within 1/2 inch of top but no more. I have looked on here and suspect that either the window regulator has broken or the cabling is knackered.

Please confirm what you think it might be before I go looking for a replacement.

Will the gubbins from a Passat be the same?

[bought a second hand Passat elec window inc silver door plate.

Have just fitted the item and now not only will the window not work but I now have lost the radio display on the instrument binnacle, the central locking has stopped working on that door and the elec windows in the back work erratically when operated from the drivers door switches. Please help/quote]

I have been informed that although the window mechanism and regulator are identical between a Superb and a Passat.

The motor is actaully different and if you fit a Passat motor to a Superb window you will experience faults in other systems as well as not working the window.

The other components affected include central locking, radio display and operation of the other windows. This is because the electrical connector going to the motor also contains the wiring for the other items mentioned.

Does anyone konw if this is true or am I being fobbed off by the vendor of the replacement part?

Why don't you just change the mechanism and leave the superb motor, wiring and everything else. I have a Passat mechanism with the plate and I will change only the plate with the mechanism and put all others (motor, wires, lock, speaker) from Superb.
