Anyone know how to open up the fob unit to replace the standard remote key battery?

My opinion? Don't do it! There was a thread on this site a couple of days ago-you open the keyvia the button as normal, grip the metal key part and snap the fob open down the thin side (not the button side), then the key ring half opens along its thin side. I did this just to see if I could,; now the remote doesnt work anymore. A trip to the dealer for me is the result.

Oh, in case anybody points me in the direction of the handbook regarding the procedure for resetting the code, been there, done it, it doesnt work!

Well, I followed the instructions on the link supplied by Dennis and it worked perfectly. I think the battery had just moved slightly, losing contact. Fiddled about a bit and the remote now works perfectly again.

thanks for the advice guys. newer model fabia with one good remote and one duff. followed your advice and took apart and reseated battery and hey presto two working remotes!

My dealer basically said they'll do it for free (battery will probably get 'overcharged' but at it saves me the hassle).

I'll get them to change it just before the 3 year warranty runs out I reckon
