Armrest lid locked closed

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Let this be a warning to all members with Fabia centre armrests.

I went to lift the armrest lid to retrieve my sunglasses and it would only lift about 20 degrees.

I found a one pound coin stuck in the rear hinge passengers side.

I struggled for about half an hour with screwdriver, kitchen knife and pliers.

The pound coin was completely marmalized and I feared, stuck for good.

I finally managed to remove it by pushing the drivers seat full forward and raked full forward, this enabled me to approach the problem from the drivers side rear door.

I was then able to use pliers from a slightly different angle and the coin came away.

This must have happened when I lifted the armrest the other day, whereupon the coin must have fallen into the hinge.

I now have my parking change in an old 35mm film container.

So please remove any pound coins from your armrests straight away, or you may find the same problem.

Regards

Tony :(
