generic plug-in re-mapping chip for PD130

Featured Replies

Hi there. i'm considering a re-map and have seen several simple chips that you just plug in to a joint in the wiring. Some look very cheap and nasty but one looks well made, very simple and with (apparently) genuine VAG connectors. It's about £20.

it's supposed to be suitable for several VAG diesels and I just wonder if it will produce the claimed 30bhp and torque increases and if there are any other issues with this type of upgrade?

Don't bother. It's a 20p resistor that simply tricks the ECU into thinking the fuel is hotter than it is. The density of diesel decreases as it gets hotter so it injects more to compensate.

You will get a bit more power, but it's a very bad way of achieving it and will likely end up causing untold damage to other components. If you want a reliable increase in power, look for a remap from a reputable tuner.

Thanks - i figured it might be some sort of con.
