Odd key issue

Featured Replies

Hi good people of briskoda.....

Had my second hand octavia for 2 years now, added 40k miles in that time (140k now), all is well, it's still the best car I've ever bought, but I'm currently just fixing up a few niggly issues. One of these is to do with the actual key lock on the door. Basically, the key turns, but nothing happens.

I've looked over the internet, and can find lots of problems related to central locking, and keyfobs not working. Trouble is, my central locking works fine, as does both keyfobs, it's just the turning the actual key in the door, and I don't like the idea that this wouldn't work in an emergency. Anyone got any ideas?

Could it be that the door locks have been changed but not the ignition?

Nope. The key was stiff, I assumed broken, but in the shop she said they often get like that cause nobody uses them, so I went home and sure enoug it was stiff and it did open just fine, so It HAS worked.

So the problem is fixed? just lubricate the lock, should reduce the stiffness

No. It was stiff, and fiddling with that is what makes me know that it does work and the locks are all the right ones.

It's not stiff now. It turns, and nothing happens. I guess nobodies had anything similar, I'll have to take it into skoda in the next few weeks.

Could be something has came lose like a pin or clip not sure how the locks work but that could be a possible reason.
