Genuine Skoda touch up kits

Featured Replies

I discovered a deep chip on my front wing today. Unfortunately its gone through to the metal and there is already a thin veneer of rust which I have tried to brush away. I'm a bit surprised as I thought a 59 plate Octavia would have better protection, this must have only happened in the last fortnight so its bad to see rust there.

Anyway, I'm looking at the best primer and paint option to repair the chip and saw that Skoda's own touch up kit comes with a lacquer but not a primer. Do Skoda sell a good primer to work on chips? I have some old primer but its grey and it looks like Skoda use a white type..?

I also have to repair a chip that the local Skoda dealer did when messing up a warranty job so I guess I could ask them to sort that one and see if they'll do the one on the wing... doubt they'll accept responsibility though.

I have an Octavia in bright silver, code 9156. Any advice most welcome..!

I've got there twin pack touch up paints which includes clear laquer and they are great. I have used just a normal grey primer touch up for the chips as mine is Metallic Red Flamenco. The result is perfect.

Thanks stormchaser, the grey primer does seem to be fine. Impressed with the quality of the silver touch up paint. Not finished yet and need to add another drop and then lacquer, but its better than I thought.

What are the metal nibs for though? Scraping off rust? They looked a bit hardcore for my newish car!

Size 0 artists brush has been invaluable.

Yes Its for rust picking before paint.

Hope all goes well. I think there paint is perfect.

Dont use a brush it comes with..Just use a tiny blob on the end of a cocktail stick.

Leave it 24 to 48 hours, then get some 2400 grit paper and sand it flat..Then polish...Job done!!
