Boot light

Featured Replies

Fitted a new LED bootlight a couple of months ago following the threads on here. Very pleased with the result, much brighter etc.

Went camping last night and locked the car with two of the rear seats folded down. Interior lights went out but boot light dimmed and refused to go out. Spent next 20 mins opening/shutting boot etc, even got into car and locked it with me inside to watch the bootlight but the light never went off completely. I imagine it has done this ever since I replaced the original bootlight but as 1) I live in a city with lots of street lights and 2) I usually have the rear seats upright I've never noticed it before. In a pitch black field it was much more obvious!

Anyone got any thoughts/ideas? I assume being LED it will have negligible power consumption and I don't have to worry too much?

My replacement LED turns off OK, does it still misbehave if you replace the original unit, if so it may be a faulty tailgate switch/sensor?

I did notice recently that if the tailgate is left open for a while (I got chatting to someone whilst loading the boot) that the light dims and flashes quickly, presumably the CAN Bus issuing a warning...
