Thinking of trading down

Featured Replies

I've spotted an older Audi A4 1.9 (130 6sp) avant for reasonable money.

It's £5k.

I had a look at it and it's quite tidy for the age.

90k on the clock but with FSH inducing receipts for timing belt.

Needs a couple of tyres and probably disks but the VRS will be due the same in the next year

I've not spoken to the dealer yet but I'd have hoped to get about £2k back which quite frankly would be handy right now.

I know the engine can last a lot more miles, the interior is a bit worn but no worse than any other A4 of the same vintage.

Plus I genuinely quite like that model.

A daft move?

Finding the Octy a bit expensive tbh these days. Just had a lot of work done on the VRS but it's sitting on cc to get paid off.

Do you mean expensive running costs (fuel) or servicing/repairs?

I presume it's the 130PD engine? That'll go on forever if it's had the timing belts and the right oil etc. Not as fast as the vRS obviously but reasonably quick (plus you could always map it to 165+B) )

Mine has been the best car I've ever had.

Well I suppose I was thinking about things that can go wrong on an older car. Suspension components, electrics etc.

This one has full Audi SH and has receipts for the timing belt just being done. Needs two front tyres and possibly disks but disks I can do myself.

Remap would be of interest.

I've a pal with a Golf with that engine and it's on 150k with no significant issues.

Trade in offer was a bit galling, £6500 but looking on Autotrader at VRS prices it's not a surprise.

Well, one of the reasons I don't have an Audi or a VW is that I find the Germanic seats too hard.

Had a proper look last night. No isofix in the back seats. I was surprised at that. I've a pal with an 02 Golf and it has them. Been a smokers car too so a bit smelly on the inside so I passed.

No Isofix? thats very supprising. I thought every VAG car after like 2000 had isofix?
