CAN Gateway & RNS510 battery drain?

Featured Replies

While searching for a definitive answer as to whether my CAN Gateway (1K0 907 530 K, H04 0021) would have the battery drain problem once I had installed a Columbus unit (3T0 035 680 A SW:2780), I can across this on this article on the Ross-Tech Wiki (look at the table).

It seems to be quite clear that mine, the 'K' variation with 0021 software version would have problems and will need a new gateway.

However, other 'K' versions with 0170 or 0178 software version would be OK and can, if I am reading this correctly, be updated without purchasing a new gateway.

Has anyone else seen this on the Wiki and had experience to confirm or dispel this?

Since I wrote this specific WIKI entry I can tell you that we wouldn't have posted this information unless we could back it up. Of course you can try installing the RNS510 with the existing Gateway and just see if you have the issue or not.

IFF you can find a dealer who is willing to do the update at a reasonable price, it will solve the problem with the specified gateways.

@rwbaldwin, 1K0-907-530-K @ 0021 cannot be updated. Either live with the problem or replace the Gateway.

I meant the gateways specified in the Ross-tech wiki as updateable.

Thank you for the confirmation.

I wrote the post out of frustration as initially I could not find anything regarding the different SW versions of the 'K' gateway for a long time and then suddenly came across the article in your wiki. As mine is a 'K' 0021 I wanted to be certain before spending out on a new gateway.

Given your information (on the Wiki and your response), I have ordered a new CAN Gateway from Eddie-NL on this forum which should arrive just in time tomorrow.
