Pics look gud pal, they don't show how dirty my car actually was. We will put another coat on them when the weather let's us. I'm going to be doing loads of work to mine in prep for the shows coming up!!

Nah just buy another pair of headlights and keep the originals. You then spend a couple of hours removing/installing and that's it. Remember the originals I was not able to open them up. Test before you do on a broken one as I did to make sure - I was defeated. :( Depos on the other hand are completely different story.

If it is too much for you you could always go down the tint film route which looks great as well.

32K I did try to get the tints, but that was a fail as I had no access to a heat gun :(

Ad, your prepared to take my lights apart for me?! :D *gets the beers ready* haha! I do agree it will look great! I'm happy I chosen green, it's a shame I have red springs, and yellow shocks lol.... I've got all 4 of the base colours on my car now haha!!

Thanks Danny! It's surprising how clean your car looks actually! I also gotta get it ready for the show when we go! alloys and little touch ups etc :) Will keep in touch when I'm back! :D

Thanks again!

Is there an easy way to see if my car is a TDI DPF? or just a TDI?

You'll get an extra light on the dash, that you should see for a few seconds when you go to 'ignition 2'

Should look something like this...

DPF2.jpg

(although I don't have a DPF on mine, so not exactly sure which symbol Skoda use!)

Love it Leon - Keep up the good work.

yes thats the DPF symbol - it should light up when you turn the car to start it then go out a few seconds after the car has started up, although I dont think the 1.9s were ever DPF fitted (in the Fabia`s at least), just the newer Common Rail diesels and the 2.0 engines. Although I am willing to be proved wrong!

If in doubt its quite obvious - its a big catalytic convertor style tube over the downpipe although its solid and doesnt have a heatshield like a cat on a petrol car.

If I go to the breakers yard and spot a set of lights i'll nab them and paint them up. My best mate works as a painter/sprayer in a high end repair place and he does the paint stuff for me, so technically its not me that would do the lights :D

Hey Steve,

Naaaah I don't think my car is, I just happened to search for 1.9tdi and some of the cars it had come with even 2007 fabia's some were mentioned to be DPF

So I have never seen the icon light up.... I don't think the manual has anything about it either! Thank you anyway :)

I'll have a look tonight, but I'm now sure its not on my model :) Thank you for the information though.

Thanks Rob! :D it's an on going project!! I know some people don't like doing things bit by bit, but I think the bond grows when you are always working on the car with subtle changes etc :)

Ad,

Thanks for the PM! it's got me slightly excited! :D

haha....I would never have known! :p I did reply to your PM though :)

I think the same as Ross - not aware of any of the 1.9TDI units having a DPF fitted.

If it has - get rid quick! the one on our Superb has just gone and as its out of warranty (thanks to a big-bore exhaust) Skoda want £1500 to replace it!

Computer says no, I hope!

Goodbye problem, hello DPF delete.

Don't panic :-) I have no dpf! So I'm guessing that's a good thing?! :-D

My tax is still 95 for a year so I think its still green in the governments eyes :-)

Definitely a good thing

You need to get the mods to move this to the Fabia Project Journals

i wish, its still sat at Citygate Skoda as we have been told we cant drive it (DPF is 100% full) so its kinda stuck atm. Other half is really not sure if they want to keeep it or not, trying to persuade them to but its getting the DPF stuff done to it thats the bugger.

Anyway, back on topic - good mod to do next would be to get the car mapped - from what I have seen the 1.9s seem to be averaging around £150-£200 for a generic map which should give you a bit more poke.

Yeah, a map will be nice! I need to drive someone else's to see what the difference would be? I can appreciate people saying its amazing and how much nicer it is I'd just like to drive it for myself!

I've been in Jonny5ive's Roomster Scout, and it was pokey but we only had a short run so it wasn't easy to judge! :)

Have you driven a MK1 vRS?

It'll be like driving that but with a better map/curve :)

I've not driven an vRS at all in Fabia or Octavia form!

And I've been driving Skoda's since I passed my test....now I wonder why not? Oh yeah some dealers either never had one in or were not letting me drive one unless I wanted to put a deposit down! Even when I wanted to try various models out! Tssk

If you are near T.Wells i'm sure vrsrs (Rob who bought my old MK1 vRS) will take you out for a ride, and I could take you out in the MK2 to show you a proper car :)

Both both both!!! Haha I'm currently based in se London 5 miles from Bromley :-)

I meant if you are down this way :) I know where you are lol :D

Funny enough vrsrs works in Beckenham now, used to be in Bromley. Worth a PM to him...

Haha sorry :-p

Let me know once youve been all to your coupling events haha! I can always pop over.

Thanks for the heads up! Now I might sound a bit silly...is that a tuner or a member?!

Or I can let you drive/test mine which is the same engine as yours but remapped to circa 140bhp. I live very close to Bluewater Shopping Centre (Greenhithe) as you can see on my profile.I also wasn't sure about remap but after I had one done on my car I think it was the best thing I ever did and I'll defo do it again when I buy next new car (Hmmmmm....Skoda Octavia VRS 2.0 TDI...!!!!!).
