With the benefit of hindsight, I wish I had kept it. I paid 3k for it in '06. 6 years later, it's still worth easily £1000. How's that for depreciation?

I'm looking at getting a mk2 in spec 3. Maybe the 1.4 TDI, maybe the 1.9. The £30 a year tax does appeal with the 1.4. I don't drive as fast these days. Saying that, I would just remap the 1.4 to make it on par/slightly faster than the standard 1.9.

So the FK kit was, how much?? ebay.de says the whole lot is around 130EUR. The eibach/koni kit cost a fortune! The springs alone were more than that. I've had FK kits in the past and found the ride to be incredibly harsh. It was an old polo though and I know they're pretty much chalk and chese for suspension setup.

My dad had the 1.4TDI 75 in his bohemia, and I had the 1.4 petrol bohemia 85 1.4 16v.

The TDI was on par with performance but didn't drive as well as the 1.4, the gear box was a little squidgy, and the petrol was a lot more slick in changing gears. I personally enjoy the 1.9TDI much more linear because it's just that little more whole in the driving and power.

I think you'll have to try them both, but going from 1.9 to 1.4 I think you'll feel the turbo lag big time... Personal opinion of course. why would you want to remap the 1.4 when the 1.9 has it already? because £300 ish for a remap, compared to just paying the little bit extra for the 1.9tdi in tax

I'm still looking at the options. I've been quoted around £200 for a custom remap. A friend had his CR170 remapped to around 220bhp/400lb ft with this guy so I think he knows his stuff. The remap will pay for itself in no time its cheaper insurance as well as cheaper tax than the 1.9

Sorry it's a PD170 and I just checked the figures. It was 206bhp. Thank you for pointing out my foolish ways.
