Audi Q5 Off Road Styling Pack

Featured Replies

Was just playing around with the Q3 configurator when I came across the Q5 Off Road Styling Pack which includes:

Larger Alloys (Contradiction to Off Road?)

"Bling" Grille

Extended Wheel Arches

Underbody Protection

Radiator Grille (not sure what this is)

Obviously the Yeti also could be opted with the underbody protection for £250 or so, wheel arch extension for £400 (inc fitting).

So Audi s charging an extra £2400 for some shiny grille and insanely unsuitable "off road" alloys?

The largest amount of the cost will be for the wheel upgrade.

The key word in the "Off Road Styling Pack" is the third one.

Audi are quite good at this, charging you more to make your car a bit different from everyone elses.

Wheel upgrade for off road use? wheel downgrade required......Oh sorry, I just realised this is just for show, not for going offroadingemoticon-0136-giggle.gif

Also included but not advertised is the imaginary 3" penis extension

Got it in one

Spotted the wood despite the trees, eh?!

It does have a better front approach angle, but worse for the rear, worse ramp angle (must be longer), same climbing ability, but probably better wading ability. I can't find a measurement in the manual, but I had in mind it was about 400mm to bottom of web. Might be less.

Oh there are more optional novelties from Audi which include:

A4 Allroad (the one with black cladding) - full paint finish - £1150

Q3 (instead of Tiguan type plastic) - full paint finish - £100

I can kind of understand the Q3 and the £100, but £1150 to buy a more expensive A4 quattro then spending another £1150 to transform it back to a standard A4 seems bizarre.

Well I know they might not be perfect for off-roading but I like that wheel design. emoticon-0106-crying.gif It certainly looks more butch and offroady than most of the wheels these 4x4 Audis come out with. Good luck in washing mud of them though! But would I pay over £3000 for that?! Nope.

Though taking the biscuit surely is paying £1150 to make your more expensive A4 Allroad look exactly like a less expensive standard A4 wagon! Eh?! The ONLY real way to see that an A4 is an Allroad is the black cladding! Doh. The slightly raised ride height is not something anyone but a real anorak will remotely notice. What a plank someone shows themselves to be if they tick this box!

The allroad (no capital A) is a standard A4 body with wheel arch extensions which allow the track to be 40mm wider. That's what you're paying to have painted. It's worth pointing out that dark coloured allroads actually have painted silver arch extensions.

Audi make great cabins and stupid overpriced c*cks cars I'm afraid.

Have you seen a Q7? What are they for?

I suspect Audi aren't all that bothered about whether their off road package actually aids off road driving.

Nor will many of those who spec it.

It looks better and therefore people will pay for it and that's more money for Audi, simple.

I've actually seen a colour coded allroad next to the standard set-up, the differentiation was clear and I rather liked it.

Shopping and collecting children from school mostly.

emoticon-0148-yes.gif around the 'posh' paying schools mainly with little johnny in the back, that's right, just 1 passenger for that massive tank.....I mean car.emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

A freind of ours bought a Q5 when they moved to a house up in the hills at the end of a long and rough track. Once the winter arrived though it was b***ered until they got some proper tyres. Probably one of the few Audis in the country to be used off road :giggle: Most as you say loiter on the posh school run.

I'm guessing the Q7 see's even less off-roading than most Yeti's.

Apart from the odd kerb of course :giggle:
