Recommend a wax...pads...and a decent microfibre cloth please!

Featured Replies

I bought a second hand Fabia HTP2 in the Blue-Line style (dark blue body work, white roof, 16" Alloys and quite a few others extras), I got this for a song and a prayer because of the state of the bodywork and some other work I had to do to it.

Some love, affection and hard work later it's in good nick, and on Monday she's off to a friends body-shop for a professional machine polish and some touching up. He says that ideally a couple of the worse scratches would need a re-spray, but he's got a couple of new products he's very excited about and thinks he'll be able to do a good job even without a full sand and spray.

We'll see how it goes (fingers crossed)!

So when the car comes back I'll be looking to wax it and protect it - that in mind can anybody recommend a good waxing product for a Fabia that they've tried? Also I'll need a decent microfibre cloth I can trust not to scratch my car when removing the excess wax...any recommendations?

Thanks,

Ben.

well seing as you want a microfiber cloth too this is very good, expensive, but so worth it ,( bilt -hamber hydra wax ) the best shine I have ever had. It comes with an applicator sponge and a large goog quality micro fiber cloth http://www.theultima.../hydra-wax.aspx

Autoglym hd wax is a decent wax or could also try finish kare pink paste wax both give off nice beading too :D As for microfibres take a look on the chemical guys web site there are some nice cloths on there or if your on a budget pop to your local asda and get a pack of kent microfibres for a few quid B)

Any one used rim wax??

I use meguires gold wax and micro fibre cloths from homebargains or tescos 1.99 for 6 cloths

Poor Boys black hole polish it may not be a wax but look it up its used alot on american classic cars gives a mirror finish to dark paints, best stuff ive ever used it rated #1st on a website i looked at where as autoglym ultra deep shine was ranked #4th and i thought that stuff was good lol

Black hole is a filler and sealent( will mask swirls) I use it before wax, it is good but will not protect the paint like a wax will, collinite is good and long lasting, but not as slick and as easy as the hydra wax. Plus your microfiber cloths get black quickly with black hole,( product stains the cloths)

Wax: Autoglym HD Wax

Polish: Meguires Microfibre polishing system is great if you have a Dual Action Polisher.

MF Cloths: I find the ones in asda's which are made by a company called Kent are excellent. Cheap enough to use only once if you are that way inclined.

Wax Collinite

MF cloths, I just go to ASDA and buy about 6 for a couple of quid. In my opinion, just as good as any others.

Polish, I use a machine polisher with Menzerna Polish.
