Skoda Octavia no electrics

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

An issue that is not for my car but my other halves dads Octavia 10 plate. It's a 1,6Tdi for reference.

Basically on 3 separate occasions, his car has lost all electrics when trying to start his car. No lights on the dash, no cranking over, nothing.. After inserting the key into the door, and turning for several minutes, it has seemed to have work on two occasions but the 3rd after waiting 3-5 minutes, it came back to life. On each occasion, the car has been unlocked for several minutes before trying to start it.

Been plugged into diagnostic equipment and has come back with no faults at all.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe relay or battery or connections to it, maybe ECU. What have the garage done so far?

Sounds like it could possibly be something to do with the immobiliser?

The garage want to keep the car in and check it everyday over different time periods and hopefully catch it when it does it again. The battery terminals are ok, that was checked at the garage and they also ruled out the immobiliser as it would crank but just cut the fuel.

Any other suggestions or possibly this has happened to somebody else?

Have a look on top of the battery as there are some main fuselinks there or could even be a loose connection, cheers - Stuart

agree with that but don't rule out battery connections my old Terrano did exactly the same but came back to life afterpopping the bonnet and would start without touching anything else- took a long time to find the trouble
