clonking sound from front of car when hitting a bump going slowly

Featured Replies

hey, just wondering if anyone has any ideas what this may be? have been told it could be drop links but they seem ok, any ideas?? thanks

My drop links seemed ok - till I took them off and replaced them.

Like night and day the difference...

Saying that it could be ARB bushes, or console bushes, or engine/gearbox mounts...

The theory is anything rubber that gets old will perish and at that point you'll get clunks.

Start inspecting everything you think could be rubber and sooner rather than later you'll find what the cause is ;)

More than likely console bushes on the front....

Mine was drop links, only did it at low speed, and generally over uneven roads, things like a pot hole or manhole cover would make the noice. Going over a speed bump where both wheels rise and fall at roughly the same time didn't create the clunk, hence why I didnt notice it when I test drove it.

Noticed it mainly when going to see a friend, they have a farm track leading to their house and thats when it was worst.
