All of a sudden my VRs has started to switch off the stereo after playing for 1 hour exactly! I have to push in the on/off button and back on it comes!Another hour and off it goes!Ive also noted that the interior light doesnt come on when I switch the engine off any more.Any ideas guys?

Echoing Moggy Tech's theory, but suggesting a different cause, and backing up Fabla.

The car doesn't think it's turned on because you've somehow lost the switching ignition power feed to it.. The constant power source (that keeps the pre sets live, etc, etc) is working fine by the sounds of it, but it needs both power feeds to be active to know when the cars on / off otherwise it assumes the cars off and switches off the radio to save the battery.

Could be something simple like a bad connection on the back?.. Maybe the cables got trapped and damaged? Perhaps the Radio is faulty? Whatever's causing it the warranty should cover it :)

Interior light not coming on is the big clue. It IS the ignition switch that is faulty, it's common as muck on VW cars as well. There is a part of the switch which senses if the key is in the ignition, and also senses when the key is removed. So if that part fails ( as it often does ) no auto radio off or interior light activation, also no anti hijack door open if that feature is enabled via VAGCOM.

Wow its good to find out these things.Car is due to go for MOT at the dealer next mounth so will get them to sort it out.Wonder if they will do it as a warranty job! :think:
