K & N Typhoon filter for Mk2 vRS Petition!

Featured Replies

I am desperate for K & N to make a Typoon Induction kit for my new Fabia vRS!!. They sound amazing and can do alot for your engine power wise. I decided i wanted one after hearing one of them on my aunties seat leon tfsi engine. Surely there cant be any issues making one for our cars if they can make one for the 2 litre tfsi engines. I thought there might be issues due to the engine being twin charged but they make them for other VAG twin charged engines :(

As many of you as possible please comment on this post if you agree so that i can send it to K & N and show there there is a need and market for these induction kits, they have said currently there's not a huge market for them but i beg to differ!!

Well a few of us have just bought the REVO intake for simplicity... straight swap and really easy to do

Linky

There has been a few people that have made custom intakes, have a look around

Edit: Also K&N do a replacement for standard filter Linky

hi thanks for reply ye i know there are some out there for example the one that you mentioned but they are no way as good as a typoon kit from K & N its one of the best on the market. changing the filter wouldn't do much really and ive always said that to get your moneys worth you need to change the full system. my personal experiences have shown me that a filter just gives you a little more noise. how much are the revo kits?

Hardly a difference from stock sound....

The k&n intakes ive seen on pprevious VAGs have been woeful, tacky and a cheap attempt at braking iinto the vag tuning market. K&N = bodge a filter into a car and call it an intake.

If you want a proven intake then your currently limited to ITG maxogen or forge. I have the forge, but only as i got it from aaa iend, otherwise i would have bought the ITG intake, as the R&D they perform is secoond to none, and they have much better technical pedigree, when it comes to experience since they supply F1 teams, btcc teams, and the intake i had previously gave huge gains compared to the 2 previous intakes i had.

K&N will not do a typhoon for our car, they are currently making a 57s system but will not be out till next year, I know a lad who works in the r&d at K&N and he said they won't do it, also with the engine bay bein so hot you wouldn't gain much from an open filter situated where it currently is. To make a decent typhoon system they would have to move the battery and fit it there with a heat shield but still I don't think it will be as good as a 57s system

It's very slight tbh

You can see and hear my custom intake on my youtube channel. http://www.youtube.com/user/apmaman123

I would love K&N to do a purpose kit, as the ones out just now are way over priced for what they are.

That sounds pretty good to be honest.. What are the changes youve notice performance wise?

Revs a bit easier, especially at about 3k upwards. Mostly just an improvement on the engine noise though. Wasn't looking for performance as it would be about 5bhp at the most.

How much did it cost?

Cost me £100. Put it together using 70mm silicone hoses, clips, an aluminium T junction, 1 inch to 16mm reducer hose and a PiperCross Viper.

The Viper retails at ~£200, but I got mines used for £20. Quick clean and its good as new!

Filter options can be anything really if you use the custom silicone hose route. The K&N Apollo was my second choice, as that has an oil breather outlet already installed, but they were about £60 used so went for the cheaper option.

The forge intake is oonly around 130. Why spend 14k+ on a noce sporty car and then go cheap on modifications.

Buy nice or pay twice imo

dont see how buying a quality 200 quid part for cheap isnt buying nice but whatever floats your boat.

So £140 + 20% is not £130 is it lol
