Briskoda Blogs - they are closing

Hi all,

The blogs feature will be closing, it is to be replaced by what it originally replaced but didn't work out very well, forum based project journals.

Here are the reasons:

The software isn't that great it's not gotten much better in the latest releases.

Search is always troublesome, being all in the forums warrants an easier task to search.

In a long time ( 6+months) I predict this site will be very different to how it is now, perhaps even a different software base.

The new journal sections will be online today, they are available via links in the post below.

Is there a timeframe in mind for the closing of the Blogs?

Matt,

yes and no.

I'd say within a few weeks, certainly within the month+/- 50%. You may of noted the tab is gone of the top, they are still active underneath.

It's one less thing for me to upgrade / maintain / worry about permissions and to be truthful you and a few others are the few who have taken to them.

Whilst I don't like turning things off, I do on this one feel the forum journals will provide a better stage to the majority of users.

Colin,

Cool, I'll get my Blogs moved off tomorrow/sunday (with a bit of luck) and into the Octavia Project Journals

It took me a while to get used to the Blogs and I quite like them but I know they weren't favoured by alot of people and continued to see Build Threads within sub-forums.

I'm easy either way, I'm just grateful for a most excelent site   , Now go and have a few

The nail is hit when you said it took you a while to get used to them.

Imagine for somebody not familiar with the web, they are an ok solution, but they are going to work better on technology sites, but then most readers would have there own blog.

Sorry for the hassle.

Colin.

Colin,

It's no hassle at all
