Exhaust connection types?

Featured Replies

Please bear with me on this as I try to explain what I need.

I have a Milltek downpipe waiting to go on my Octavia vRS, this is a larger bore pipe so requires an adapter to connect to the OE cat back, after chatting with another member who recently acquired an adapter direct from Milltek I have decided this could be the way forward. What I need to know is on a standard system where the down pipe meets the cat back are the pipes the same diameter or is one of them stepped down so it slots into the other and then the two are clamped? Thinking about it logically this would be the most secure way of joining the two!

Can anyone who has done this upgrade enlighten me, the only alternative other wise will be to jack the car up and undo the clamps to look for myself which I would prefer to avoid!

Thanks in advance, Lee.

The dp and system are the same diameter and join with a sleeve type clamp.

I have a cone reducer on my 3" dp but I'm sure a decent exhaust place could make a pipe up for you. The welded pipe on my piper DP was only about 8"-10" long so it should'nt be too expensive if the miltek is similar.
