Fuel Injection troubles ...

Featured Replies

Hi there, not sure if this is the right section, but it's not on a Skoda so hopefully it'll do.

Anyway, on my Leon TDI, it has recently had the cylinder head rebuilt due to a hydraulic lifter failing on me. To cut a long story short it has had new camshaft, lifters, valves and seals, timing belt kit and water pump, and glow plugs.

Now the problem I am having is that it's taking a few seconds of turning over before it starts, it runs rough for the first few mins and is a bit smoky at first. The MPG seems a bit crap according to the computer, however my distance covered and fuel gauge doesn't seem that abnormal, so I'm not sure about this one. Also it is a bit flat for power, doesn't have the same "kick" it used to have.

When the cylinder head was first rebuilt, the injectors were not set correctly, but found out what I thought was the correct info online. Set them using this info, which was with the cam set to its highest point, so the injector was depressed, turn the adjustment screw until the injector reaches its stop, then back 225 degrees. This did not solve the problem and have since now set it to 180 degrees which I was also told is the correct setting. It has now improved it but I am still having the above problems. It does start better now though but not great.

I really am at a loss as to where to go from here, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers!
