Overspray on my windscreen!

Featured Replies

Before picking the car up, I mentioned the car needed a touch up on the mirror....

I've only found out that there is overspray over my windscreen because in the sunlight theres a metallic look - I had this same problem on my old old fabia which when they renovated the building had white emulsion specs all over the car!!! The only thing is the dealer is miles away, and I'd like to get lift it off it safely, and I'll let the dealer know on monday.

How easy is it to remove over spray on the whole windscreen? Just a lot of window cleaner and wipes?

Or I'm guessing I'm going to have to clay bar the whole car!!! because I'm guessing if theres a fine film of metallic spray on my window there will be more no doubt over the body work...all this faff for a wing mirror repair!! :dull:

if theres any short cuts please let me know :)

Thanks,

Leon.

Get a tin of cellulose thinners, pour some onto an old T-shirt/rag with some thinners and wipe the screen where the paint/lacquer is.

if its quite fresh paint, then using a clay bar on the glass should lift most of it. :)

Thanks guys :) what about a watered down white spirit on a tshirt? :)

Or try some fine wire wool .

I just used a Stanley blade at a steep angle and scrapped it off. If you are at the right level it wont scratch

Just had a feel over the bodywork and its on the front wing, half the bonnet, doors, and black pillars :(

Hmmm

On paintwork I would say a clay will definitely shift it. How long ago was the spraying done?

on monday just gone...I tried a bit of auto gym paint renovator,....nothing happened lol...

A clay will always shift more than most chemicals. It literally will grab the bits of overspray and lift them off the paintwork as it glides over. All depends how fresh the paint is as to how easily it will lift though. Longer its left to set the tougher it will be.

Clay shifted masonry paint spots from my Fabia easily.
