I'll try to do a few of these at different milestones next being 5k and 10k

It's been pretty good so far. Really getting the feel of the box not and find myself using auto most of the time but paddles when it's quiet, normally in the night. Love the sound of the turbo charger combo too. Shame it's not a bit louder.Everyone who has seen it loves it and have commented on how good it looks for an estate. I do get chavs gawping at it when I drive home from work and some of the stuff they drive (think bodykitted, colour mis-matched Puntos) is shocking. Don't know whether to feel pleased to worried that they like it. Been running it on Momentum or Vpower depending on availability and it's definitely punchier. Even my dad noticed as a passenger. The acceleration off the line has shocked quite a few of my passengers and they can't get over how good the DSG is. They still think of autos as slow things but this is spot on. It's even been called a grown up car too. I still tell people it's only a 1.4 and some s****** and think of it as not big enough for the car. Right up until the point I pin them in the seat with acceleration

Problems? Only the central locking had a funny moment and stopped working for 10 minutes. Took it to Sinclair Skoda who reset the control unit and changed it so one button press opened everything. It's been fine ever since. Topped up the oil yesterday and put about 200ml in. I expected usage and at the moment it's acceptable. Been driving tidy going back and forth to work and taking it for a good fast blast somewhere once a week. You'll notice my Fuelly has taken a battering lately mainly down to my new job. It's stop start traffic all the way into Swansea centre and I barely touch 40mph, often turning the engine off. But the economy is improving. At first I'd struggle to touch 38mpg but I've seen 40mpg+ a few times. Going for a drive up to Aberystwyth now to see family. Should be a good test for it.

Keeping it clean is easy enough now it's waxed and sealed. Does anyone know if it's fine to keep topping up with wax? I've applied two coats but was thinking about adding another coat fortnightly right up to Winter. Am I fine to do this? I also hose the car down most nights and sometimes morning when there's normally bird crap on it. Unavoidable really as there's a phone line going over my drive emoticon-0106-crying.gif

To to sum up I'm really happy with it and really glad I bought it. Now I've got used to it I can see why people are remapping but that I think applies to most cars. Once you get power you always want a bit more :D

Nice write up - I've driven a few, and the do surprise a lot of people!

You can't really wax too much, but what benefit you get from it largely depends on what wax it is!

Nice report so far mate. I've got this adventure to come!

Nice write up...

There was a report a while back on detailing world that the optimum amout of wax is two coats... any more is overkill to see the benefits.

Thanks for the update Martyn, your photos and write-ups will keep whetting my appetite until mine arrives in March :)

Hey its nice to see you back. It's been a while

nice review, keep em comming, I like to see other peoples ownership experiances ;)

I'm about to take mine in for its 20k service (and a set of winters... gonna be 2 celcius up here this week! :( ) and I have nothing to report to the dealer! lol...

about getting used to the power... I feel it could do with more speed now, although a megane 200 was surprised on the dual carrigeway down to the harrogate meet on sunday ;)

Arrgh I love your car buddy! :)

Good write up too! not been in a vRS yet I guess in time :)

As for the remap statement yeah, I agree once you get more, you always want something a bit nippyer!! :D

I love it in white, do you have some more pics to share?

As for the wax, I wax my cars every time I wash them, thats about once a week/fortnight.... I usually apply 2-3 layers once I've washed my car anyway. :)

Great to see it still looks very white. Wax is like a second skin for your car, I would do 2 coats to make sure it was well covered then top it up every 6 to 8 weeks when the water beading stops.

Every 6 months or so you should strip the wax off with a heavy duty shampoo taking any muck, bugs and tar with it. Then wax again on your nice clean paint and let it sit between your paint and all the muck again.

On a white car you do notice little stains, these should get into the wax and be easy to remove with a good shampoo.

he's/ she's a nice Panda :p

I've nicknamed it the Stormtrooper for obvious reasons. Just come back from Aberystwyth. On the way up it was dry and used the paddles all the way up. They make so much sense on twisty roads and averaged 40mpg. Coming back however was monsoon conditions so eased off a lot unless I was keeping with something in front. Lot more grip in the wet than I expected but still pretty nervous coming back.

I checked the oil before I left Aber and was still just below max. Still not sure if its best to go on a cold or hot reading
