I am expecting my new Superb 118TSI wagon next month but the boy scout in me wants to get a good(but not too expensive)code reader, fault finder, service reset etc tool.

What brand/models would you recommend?

Best accessory I've ever bought for VAG cars is the proper Ross-Tech cable.

Recently helped me retrofit a Bolero into my Octavia

I bought a Ross Tech one from Gendan last month and have (with the kind help of members of this forum) already used it to fit new CAN Gateway and Columbus as well as change some of the factory settings that I wanted to change.

It really is fairly easy to use - just finding the things you want in the first place that is sometimes tricky!

Will be getting to work on SWMBO's older Fabia which has several fault codes to deal with...

Yep, buy a Ross-tech cable.

HEX-USB+CAN interface cable ordered from Ross-Tech. Should be able to use it on my VW also.
