Fabia sdi warning light.

Featured Replies

Hi, i know everyone will ask about codes etc, but just wondering...

Driving home today and the engine management system warning light started to flash, car did not feel any different, drove the same as always. It is a 2001 sdi with 116000 on the clock, it is driven four times a day for twenty miles each way, so isnt just doing short journeys, as money is rather tight at the mo, can the car be driven like this for a while??? Could i do a 'disconnect battery reset' and see what happens?? With the car not driving any differently would it do any harm??

Thanks for any help. Steve.

Best thing to do is to have a code scan done to see what codes it brings up. It not "feeling" any different does not necessarily mean anything. It could be using more fuel, putting out more pollutants, or it could at worst potentially spell impending doom for an expensive component in the car - which could have been averted. Also I believe there is a proposal for the MOT regs that any type of check light means an MOT fail, as it means something is wrong with the car. Recommend not sweeping it under the carpet and check it out. If you're lucky there might be someone near you on here with VCDS who will happily scan the codes for you for beer tokens (think the dealers charge something crazy like £70 now?!)
