diy clutch change

Featured Replies

Hi my clutch gave in last week so im going to be changing it myself. Was just.wondering if anyone could tell me what sizes of the 12 spline tools i will need for the driveshafts and flywheel? Also is it just the engine mount bolts that need replacing due to being single use stretch bolts or are there others?

Cheers

Iirc it's M10 on the driveshafts, it's M12 for the flywheel bolts (torque is 60nm plus 90 degrees on them)

The two 18mm mounting bolts should be replaced but that's it.

You will need a pressure bleeder such as Gunsons EZBleed to bleed the clutch afterwards.

What clutch and flywheel u using? I went for the cerametallic 5 paddle clutch and smf from cg motorsport. Got some good reviews and i dont do much driving in traffic so the harshness wont be a problem

Can I ask roughly what the total cost of replacement parts took out of your pocket.

Been told around around the £700 figure, gulp!!emoticon-0101-sadsmile.gif

Yeah sure from cg motorsport the 5paddle clutch rated to 400ftlb, release bearing, pressure plate, and smf came to £575. With a dmf it comes to £565

Did the clutch this weekend! Only problem we had was getting the gearbox out. In the end we had to remove the sub frame then the box came out no trouble. I definately recommend this setup. The bite is quite keen but still driveable you just have to be a bit more careful when lifting the pedal and gear changes are so smooth. Also the rattling from the smf isnt as loud as what i was expecting. Once its bedded in ill post again

Did mine at work on sat morning,so much better to drive now
