312mm brakes question

Featured Replies

When you talk about converting the standard VRS brakes of a fabia to the larger 312mm brakes of an octavia VRS, are u all talking about the VRS tdi or the petrol one? Or is there no difference? Presumably some 312's off a TT or cupra would fit too?

I'm just trying to source some atm & having trouble knowing what to search under.

312s come on:

MK1 Octavia vRS

MK4 Golf Anni

MK1 Audi TT

MK1 Audi S3

MK1 Seat Leon Cupra

I`m sure theres others but these are the most common. Make sure they are 5x100 PCD setup

and it's all in the pictorial thread.

Also the MK1 Octavia only came in petrol.

I know this might make elvis turn in his grave but could you get the carriers from somewhere the PMA or French German and Swedish parts? I know they'd be copies but cheaper!! :-)

You might do, still need the calipers though.

This is true, might see if they do them as well :-)

Found this to be a b l o o d y nightmate to mate, hopefully tracked down a nice set :S hopefully........

For recon brakes that's a bargain.

I'm going to get my 312mm brakes from that seller, great prices to be fair.

I got my calipers/carriers from him as well and they came 2 days later, and for a great price! Only thing is the retaining springs that come with them arent that good but can be had from TMS or wherever for £8.

Must say they're a great upgrade

its not a nightmare... gr666 bought from this guy afaik.

Many thanks!!!!

Question tho - I notice the discs and pads look pretty basic.

Might it be better to buy just the carriers and calipers from this seller & get uprated discs and pads?

What do you think & will I be able to purchase them for under 100 notes?? :-D

I just bought the calipers and carriers from him.

Bought a matched set of Pagid discs and pads from a different seller

after recommendations from others about how well the Pagid discs

resist corrosion due to them being painted. Cheap discs will rust almost

immediately and who knows what pads he's supplying??

Paid £80 for the disc and pad set.

So am I just looking for 312mm discs now then or do they have to be for mk1 octavia, TT, or mk4 golf like the carrier / caliper combo?

Heres the set I bought.

They were cheaper when I bought them but I reckon if you make an

offer of £85 then he'll take it. He accepted my offer of £80 when I

bought mine ;)

Thanks buddy, I owe u a drink!

He accepted £80 from me too :-D

Is there anything else I need to know about fitting these brakes? Uprated fluid? I'm getting a mate to do it cos as u can tell I hav no clue lol

No worries, I got some (slightly) uprated brake fluid for mine.

The way I saw it was that while it was up on the ramp he may as well

give the fluid a change as well. I used the ATE super blue fluid.

It can be obtained from eurocarparts (25% discount there... )

8 hours left and only at £70. Thats cheap

Still not as cheap as mine. Cost of a trax ticket for my mate ;)

Dont suppose he's selling a hybrid turbo is he? I'll buy him a Trax ticket for next year? :D

The Pagid discs and pads arrived today! Impressive considering I only ordered them at circa 1:30 am yesterday lol - but...

They look MASSIVE!!!

Please tell me I don't need 17's for them to fit!

You don't. My alloys and my steels go over them with about an 8mm gap
