fabia speaker sizes

Featured Replies

am i right in thinking its 6.5" front, 5.25" rear in the fabia?

also any links to the rings people buy to bring the front speakers out of the front door

thanks for any info

Rear are 4 inch.

Fronts are 16.5cm

The standard speakers in mine were 5.25", but when you drill the standard ones out you ruin the adaptor rings so the norm is to replace them with 6.5" adaptors. The one I used was the one for the MK4 Golf (search SAK 3103 on Ebay) which worked fine. So 16.5/17cm components are the ideal replacements.

I have some17" speakers waiting to go in, just cant be bothered with the hassle cos I cant see it being straight forward, but I need to pull my finger out and get it done. Any advice on getting rid of the horrible rattle the oem speakers give through the door card? I assuming some strategically played rubber washers?

Cut out some rings of 1" foam and fit between the door card

and the speaker. I reckon that would work :wonder:

To do a thorough job, you will need to get some sound deadening on the doors to stop the large metal surfaces ringing and swallowing important frequencies. This will also stop a lot of the rattling as it will add mass to the door. Other then that I put a thin layer of foam material around both edges of the speaker adaptor so there was no plastic on metal directly. Other parts will rattle such as wiring or door trim, just a case of trial and error and bits of foam here and there to iron them out. Make sure you don't use too much foam on the speaker adaptors or they will stick out too far and you won't get the door card back on at the bottom, it's a struggle as it is, especially if you have manual window winders!

Let's hope he meant 17cm. Otherwise your gonna need a mighty big circular drill to get those bad boys in!
