My Project Vrs

Featured Replies

Finally got round to posting my Vrs on here, bought it for the Mpg but registered on here and now all i can think about is doing it up. Started following X40SX stage 3 vrs when i got mine and ideally i want to end up with that sort of power just maybe not that size budget.

Was a great find in my opinion had everything i wanted, leather, cruise control and an Ipod connection.

Got round to a few changes in the summer holidays,

Front splitter

312mm fronts and 256mm rears from octavia vrs, made a huge difference.

Slight tint on the rear lights hides the shiny red a bit.

seeming as most people tend to go for a colour coded front grill i decided to go for a carbon wrap as i had seen it before and it looks pretty smart i thought.

Found this on the DVLA and couldnt resist.

Most recent addition is a Revo remap, has changed the car and gives much better mpg on a motorway run, little bit more smoky but doesnt bother me. By far the brakes have been the biggest improvement they are brilliant.

So thats is so far plans are for FMIC, alloys from the octavia vrs, coilovers, rear anti-roll bar, and possibly a straight through over the next months as i have to juggle uni and taking my car apart to fit new bits.

Then in the long term bigger turbo and more power.

Good start mate,

Nice one dude.

It seems you have OEM leather, would you be interested in swapping it for my SeatSurgeons leather and some cash your car?

It's really nice leather but I just want OEM. I paid £900 for the retrim a few months ago.

Looks really nice mate

If the seats weren't heated i would have been very interested but i like the heated seats. Thanks for the offer though.

Nice but why on earth not remove the rear light to tint?

Im sure its only 2 or 3 bolts a side?

I was thinking the same, when I lamin-x`d mine it took me 30 seconds to get the light off.

Car looks very smart though, loving the leather!

I did think that i should remove the lights but just decided that it would be just as quick to use the masking tape and some paper.

Is it hard to wrap the grill in vinyl?

Looks good!

  • Author

Took a couple of hours and it is a bit fiddly but just use a hair dryer to heat up the vinyl and it bends straight into shape. Cost £7 off ebay with some left over.

Been a while since i last updated but finally got round to doing some more to the Vrs,

Its been De-tangoed.

Looks much nicer that it did with the orange bulbs.

I had a pipercross panel filter until the other day when i checked it and this had happened,

Warwick-20120113-00183.jpg

I emailed pipercross but they didnt seem too bothered that it had happened, so just went back to standard. The "clean" side of the air filter had loads of little bits of dirt on it so just praying that this hasn't done some serious damage to anything.

Have done the pikey elephant mod, Doesnt seem to have made a difference just has a shiny red bit under the bonnet now. Will hopefully keep the intercooler a bit more efficient.

Started the coming home lights that Korban showed on his Vrs,

IMG-20120113-00182.jpg

Just havent got time to finish it before i go back to uni so will be a weekend job soon hopefully!

This is a little idea i had to monitor the intake temperatures on the standard intercooler its off a computer and i have used the circuit from a cigarette lighter USB adapter to give the voltage drop needed, Going to mount it in the drivers side heater blower. Mainly did it to see if there is much difference between the standard and an uprated FMIC that will be arriving soon. Just need to get the front bumper off and install the temperature sensor.

Quick question actually where can i poke the wire through to the inside i know there is a grommet somewhere but i dont know where it is?

Jack

Looks good and possibly familiar. I may have seen this around Newport & Edgmond Shropshire?

I'm confuesd about how your CCV mod works? I thought the idea was to fix the pipe under car so the crankcase oil vapour just goes on the road or use a catch can and filter to remove and store oil and then possibly a pipe from the can carrying clean (ish) air back to the intake. To me it looks like your going to end up with an oliy mess under the bonnet.

Is the leather OEM or aftermarket? I suspect the latter because of the raised location of the vRS badge...

  • Author

Yep I am at Harper Adams so will be around and about most of the time. Ye the Reason i went for the pipe ending there is because that's all i had. The filter is literally just to stop anything going back up the pipe, if it does leave oil all over the place i will get some more hose and stick it further down.

And its OEM leather. Which the magic sponge i bought has worked wonders on it looks much nicer doesn't shine, the steering wheel is even better it looks new and so much dirt came off with the sponge it is great.

looking good buddy
