Stereo Dilema

Featured Replies

So today I did the hacksaw trick and got the stereo out. Got my new one in and works perfectly. Question is about the fascia that I brought.

How do you get it to stay in place as it doesn't clip into anything, the one I have is an autoleads one. It fits but doesn't lock into anything?

Do you mean the trim piece to hide the gap at the top?

Sell it on eBay, and then go to your dealer for the proper one. It's £3, it clips in properly and matches the rest of the dash perfectly.

Have you got a picture of the actual one I need?

Is it just a strip or does it have the side bits as well?

My head unit is Sony and has the black plastic fascia so it's really just the top part that I need...

If that makes sense.

Thanks

Yeah it's just the top part.

Part no is 6Y0857231B41

As you can see, it clips in place.

Perfect- that's just what I need :)

Now I've also encountered one more problem :(

When I have the radio on its great, set the channels and it's fine. I then turn the car off and take the key out and it forgets its memory :(

Why is this and how can it be fixed!

I've had the HU in my old car and it worked fine.

Swap the red and yellow wires over in the bullet

connectors in the stereos own loom

So pull head unit out and swap the wires over, simple as that?

Thanks

If it has the bullet connectors then yeah just swap them round. The permanent and ignition live are the wrong way round in the Skoda loom.

grr666 you were spot on the money mate. I went to the shed got the cutters and some spade and bullet connectors and was ready to chop everything to pieces... then I found this!

Ok thanks for the quick reply. I will have to put up with it at the moment because I'm no good at wires and know its key for disaster me messing around with it :(

Seriously mate, if you can put a phone on charge then you can do it.

Have faith! The connectors are already in there, you just have to unplug

each swap them round and plug 'em back in.

Having a closer look at a spare set I had. Yes I thought it was cut the wire then join them! I will have a go :)

Now for the fun and games getting the head unit it! Was a tight old fit lol!! :(
