Tank range reset ?

Featured Replies

I just got my Greenline back after nearly a month at the repair shop. I had an argument with a very large deer and the car lost........

Anyway, after filling the tank the car tank range says 395 miles ? This is odd as my car range is usually approx 735 miles from a fill. Would a battery removal or disconnect for an extended period reset my tank range calculation ?

Yes. After an extended time off the road and with the battery no doubt disconnected during that period, the car will have to 're-learn' values such as tank range and MPG.

You should see that range figure adjust as soon as you start driving the car again, but it will likely take at least a tank's worth of driving to get back upto the level of accuracy you were seeing before the incident.

The ECU will also re-adapt to your driving style again, as those values will have been lost during battery disconnect. So you might notice it drives slightly differently to start with as well. Nothing to worry about :)

Thanks Wardy.Puts my mind at rest. After driving a Citroen C2 roller skate with an elastic band for an engine my little PD 1.4 feels like an F1 car.

I had the same problem every time my car has gone in, soon seems to reset.

Sorry to hear about your mishap with the deer! Glad you're ok and you've got the car back. Imagine if that had happened whilst riding your motorcycle! :o
