Had one of these fitted today, all i can say is WOW!!!, I really recommend one of these on a Fabia VRS. My car has also been mapped by them and before the power pedal it was good, but now its awesome. Just cant describe how quick the throttle response is.

Love it!

Snake oil ??

come again???????

lol no def not.

These devices just modify the pedal position signal sent to the throttle control system so it advances it on a more aggressive map. The result is a car that feels quicker because it accelerates harder for the same throttle position on any given position. It does not produce any more power than previously available, just the way it is delivered.

You can achieve the same effect by pressing your pedal down harder...

That's brilliant. They sold you a remap, and then an add-on box that achieves something that can be written into a remap anyway through the drivers wish map.

All this does is ramp the throttle signal, so if you go to say 50% throttle as you pull away, it'll actually deliver closer to 100% throttle making the car feel more urgent.

VW do this with their R32 engines, you only whisper on the throttle and the engine pulls hard, but then the rest of the throttle range is redundant, makes the car feel super quick and responsive but is really just an elaborate trick.

Yes it is, bloody brilliant. Especially when it only cost me my time in waiting for him to fit it. Awesome bit of kit.

So they have sold you something that you already had ?

So I was right ........

@ Auric

Simple adjustment of this map will give the same effect. So they could have done it all in the map, rather than a map and a box.

Does it really matter how its done. It it will make people sleep better tonight it has not cost me any thing and neither did the map. All i was doing is sharing somehting that i thought was good, its made such a dif to the way the car drive.

So much negativity these days.

Everyone is negative, so that other people don't get duped into paying for this snake oil!

How can you be so negative when you havnt tried the products or know jack ****e about the compay or product

I stumbled across this thread whilst doing some research into the 'Pedal Box' from Diesel Tuning UK as here;- http://www.pedal-box.co.uk/site/index.php?page=content&content=5852 which seems to be a very similar product.

I don't accept fatty5000's assertion of these gizmos being 'snake oil' as it certainly does something (whereas Snake Oil does 'nothing'), but jabbasport's wisdom on the subject seems sound and logical. For anyone who has a car in standard tune and want a touch more 'go', without the expense etc. of a remap, then it would seem to be a suitable product.

For me? I'm looking at it as I have an arthritic right ankle and it is painful to use anything more than about 2/3rds travel on the accelerator pedal. To have a Pedal Box or Steinbauer equivalent would seem a suitable solution; particularly with the Pedal Box's selection of options available.

However, as I have an excellent Shark Performance remap (sorry Jabbasport) I might get in contact with Ben to see what he could do to modify my remap accordingly.

Call it what you want it still doesn't add any power, it's just manipulating the signals, which as Jabba says you can do with foot.

Although if you have issue with said foot then maybe it will be good for you

Just wear heavier shoes?

Or if you're not fit to use a use a car, perhaps hand your license in?

Just saying... :smirk:

I had a look at one of these similar products...did my research at the time.....knew that all it did was alter the signal it sends to the ECU..(ramps up the gain %) as I was having problems with my ankles at the time......bloody thing wouldn't fit due to the big "conveniace module" in the way.....had to send photos etc to DT (where I got it from)....got my money back...ankles got better......and spent the money on a set of NGK iridium tipped spark plugs......much better all round!!!!! B)

P.S.....as Jabba says...if you have a remap then why the #### are they adding that on as well?????..it should be part of the mapping........that box is really only worth spending on for non-mappped engines!!!!
