Grrrr!

Featured Replies

This could only happen to me. Got a set of VW 16" wheels the other month for winter tyres withoout realising in my ignorance (and being newish to VAG world) that VAG has two different 5 stud pcd fittings (I thought there was only a difference between the newer 5 stud and older 4 stud).

Anyway, I then get a brand new set of 16" Seat alloys for a bargain price - I carefully inspect the size markings stamped on the inside, which are 6.5J x 16H2 ET42 112. Perfect I thought, just the job. So I talke them to my local garage today along with the tyres to get everything put together and swapped with my 18s and they don't fit - despite the alloys being clearly labeled as 112 they are actually a 5 stud 100 fit. How the feck could that be!?

So I am now looking to buy my 3rd set of 16" rims - should have just shut my eyes and got a set of steels from the dealer in the first place!

Good question - how are they stamped 112 and actually be 110.

Have you googled the part # to see what the specs come up as?

Good point, the VOTEX 1c0071491 come up as OEM Beetle/Polo wheels (although mine have Seat centre caps fitted) - with 100 pcd. And yet they are definately (OEM) stamped 112, its only when you go to fit that the difference becomes obvious :'(

Perhaps you need to look here? They will definitely fit as I have tried. ;)

Know how you feel. I bought a lovely set of Audi wheels off eBay a few months back, having been told they were PCD 112, but they were 100s, so was well hacked off. Luckily I relisted them and got my money back, and now have a set of real Audi A6 112's. But how yours can be stamped 112 when they're 100's beats me. I noticed on mine though they are stamped with all the size info except PCD. My vRS factory alloys don't seem to be marked with the PCD either.

You can always ask here before buying :)

With a photo of the wheel a fair number of us will be able to tell you just by looking at the wheel, such is the level of VAG geekiness that abounds on Briskoda :D

Sorry you've had a false start, but if you spot any more - stick a thread up asking, before taking the plunge. Or just buy Pagey's set emoticon-0148-yes.gif
