Has anyone fitted..........

Featured Replies

One of the S3-style front lower strut braces?? I have been playing around with some metal work again and come up with a flat brace bar which is similar to it that should fit in the similar place to the Audi one (thanks to JLneonhug for the suggestion!)

Anyone interested? I'll be finishing the prototype over the next few days

I have thought about fitting the S3 item, but don't fancy having to remove the undertray and letting loads of crud into the engine bay, otherwise I would be up for fitting one. I had a front lower OMP strutbrace from a VW Golf fitted on my Seat Ibiza Cupra mk3 and it made a nice noticeable difference.

Not sure how it would work, subframe is quite a different shape and with the subframe being in three parts not sure how it would work.

Quite a few have fitted the lower OMP brace but to get under the gearbox it hangs quite low.

And it would need to be that bit lower to clear the dogbone aswell.

I would be interested in one if you made one though.

I'm going to measure it all up on Friday - make up a template - It should fit with the crud guard in place!

If it does fit without crud guard I'm up for one price dependant, can you feel much difference with it fitted?

I've got one (S3 lower brace) on my Golf R32, and it did feck all.

I have the OMP lower brace fitted so It's a no from me. Good luck with the development.

Stop making stuff. im trying to save up

If it fits without removing under tray I will take one dude :)

I cant see how the sub frame would flex/move from those bolts. It needs to be on the wishbone bolts if anything

Had one fitted years ago from weicher. Noticed bugger all difference so it got sold.

Sorry to **** on your fire but I think you are wasting your time with that bar in there. that subframe is quite substantial by itself, in fact I'd even go so far to say that the captive nuts on the chassis rail would tear clean out before you ever bent that subframe, at which point that flat bar would buckle like a drinking straw.. In my opinion the weal link in that whole Suspension setup is probably the track control arms.

The pic at the top is an actual VW/Audi bar on an equivalent car. It must do something otherwise Audi wouldnt have fitted one to their performance model & not the rest of the range? I'm just going on the main premise that it must make some difference.

And as for making things - I've still got an elephant mod catch tank and bracket along with fixtures and fittings to finalise - along with a solid gearbox mount. But more to come on them in time! B)

When will the catch tank be ready for orders?

Once i've finalised the mount - the catch tanks are one of the universal ones with a specific mount and lengths of hose to go to and from the breather to the catch tank and then back to the point before the egr.
