Rear interior light

Featured Replies

Just a quick one, i had a mad thought this morning on putting an interior light in the rear of my fabia for passengers in the back, has anyone done this, and also can it be done?

Well, I'm not sure if anyone actually ever did it, but in theory you can hook up the lil teent tiny oem lights that sit in the gap where the grab handle is on other VW cars.. I'm not sure, but I *think* the Fabia Combi had them, maybe only on the elegance spec.. I'm sure the Octavia had them in the combi, again.. maybe only on the elegance spec.. It's something that's always intrigued me so please be sure to post if you do it..

I found at the time that the VW Sharan and Galaxy had the same units it.. but other VW's have a larger switched unit and I'm not sure if there's the space for that one.. eBay always throws up the relevant parts if you had a rummage.

Power should be a piece of weewee, just run a cable over from the light unit at the front. That's how I hooked up my footwell lights.

Pretty sure somebody did it with a rear light from a touareg

Simple way to do it is to drill a few holes in the rear trim and push some LEDs through and fill with hot-melt adhesive. You can hardly see them during the day, but are bright enough at night
