Alloygators....again!

Featured Replies

please help me decide,

New vRS in January. white with gloss black alloys so....do i get black alloygators to go with wheels or Red to go with brake calipers.

They are between 5mm and 10mm strip around edge of alloys for those of you who have seen them.

As Ant and Dec would say....Red or Black?

White!

White!

Thanks!!

Would white would make the wheel look smaller though?

Ok Red, Black or....White?

Save your money and just don't let the wife drive it ;)

Sorry but these things look awful IMO. They seem to stick out too far and look so tacky and cheap.

None as IMO they look tacky.

A lot of tyres have built in rim protectors. nowadays anyway.

Find me a rim protector on a tyre thats of any use whatsoever.

From a looks perspective I don't think they look too bad and I tried them after wrecking my alloys on the last vehicle despite my best efforts - once on the Channel Tunnel the other on a nasty car park kerb which stuck out unexpectedly so I ficured £35 was worth a punt.................however I think I have an early set on mine and will probably be removing them - the front ones keep moving away from the wheel and I keep having to knock them back into place. I beleive the newer ones have some sort of additonal clip.

Customer services were next to useless so I'll just send them back under sale of goods as they are quite clearly not fit for purpose if they won't actually stay on the wheel correctly.

I've benefitted from the rim protectors built into a number of tyres I've had over the years.

Hit a kerb hard enough and it doesn't matter how much protection you have, it'll still end in tears.

Ok Red, Black or....White?

If you have to have them get black to match the alloys.

Any colour that stands out tells everyone you can't park!

Dunlop Sp Sport 01(?) - had them on my MKI Superb - they covered the rim substantially.

Continental ?? OE tyres fitted to my current Superb Combi, cover the rim enough so you do not wreck it but not as much as the other two

Bridgestone Blizzack winter tyres - same as the Dunlop, substantial coverage of the rim

Can't add any more of the top of my head, but those are the ones I have personal experience of

HTH

Can second the Dunlop Sport SP01's, fitted to my Scout but they put plenty of rubber between the alloy and kerb...
