44.4 MPG from 1.8T

Featured Replies

My normal journey to/from work results in an average MPG of 27.8 but last night I managed to clock up 44.4 MPG on the return journey :D

I was that impressed I thought I'd share it with you all

My car's average over 11658 miles is 31.43mpg. Best mpg between refills is 34.21.

Hmmmmmmm. I once got around 45 out of my L&K estate on a long stretch of French autoroute, but I always averaged around 36-38.

i'm expecting mine to improve as the weather gets warmer - cold mornings and an 8 mile journey to work dont really make for great fuel economy.

You're obviously not driving it hard enough. ;):D

Sticking to the NSL on the M-way I can easily get 40mpg...but who wants to do that? :D Averaging roughly 30mpg for my general day to day driving......40mile round trip to work over mainly A and B roads.

looked the other day and my average was about 17mpg, not sure what that says really :o

on the subject of out trip computer and MPG...

the trip computer starts working when you turn on the engine right??

when i have lunch i often go and sit in the car and chill and listen to some music coz i know if i go in the canteen...every man and his dog will start to quiz me about pc's lol....

now sitting with my engine running for approx 30mins each day and not moving will throw out my avrage MPH and MPG wont it??

Best you don't nip next door to the Furby room!

45's a regular occurence :)

I'd never believe the MPG Computer gizmo.......it's way too optimistic.

When I fill my car with fuel it says I can expect 650 miles range.

Ok, Skoda smarty pants electronic wizardry......even driving liking a nun on ganja I only just manage to limp to a fuel station at the 500 mile mark maximum ???

If I have to "play" I get 375-400 miles tops.

And this is the 2nd Octy that has shown the same results!

It's a nice toy but personally I wouldn't trust it one iota :thumbdwn:

Well here's some good news...it won't go below 5mpg.

Take it easy and stay of boost I've seen up in the 40's but sadly I'm 'ther side of 30...side effect of silly wingitis.

Mpg - yes. It may be clever enough to realise that the car is not moving and discount that time when computing average mph but perhaps you could check and report back.

When the car is not moving the MPG drops, there are some 4 way lights a mile or so from work, if they turn to red just as I get there I can be there for 2 -3mins. While stationary, the average MPG drops slightly.
